Templates for Classes
  • So, I realize this request is probably difficult/impossible. Just thought I'd point that out going in...

I love how the classes in OSH are presented, and I have to admit that a possible reason why I'm reluctant to use any homebrew classes is because the information wouldn't be presented as nicely. So I'm wondering whether it would be possible to make a form-fillable PDF that could have the stuff about a given class put into it, and then print out something that would match the core classes?
  • I suppose I could make some blank class sheets people could use as a background to lay out on top of.

I haze zero clue as to how to make form-fillable PDFs, though.

Hey, I think mine are pretty spiffy. =P Not on the same level as you-know-who but neat nonetheless.

They are only as good as they could be if you use the "File -> Download Original" option. Otherwise, the font may look silly.

...not to appear negative, but personally I'd say the font looks kinda wonky, even with the File -> Download Original option. Having said that, cool classes!
  • To each their own, I suppose. My point is that it isn't that hard to do the formatting yourself.
  • A good point. Sorry if I offended you. I did really like the font selection and mechanics of the illusionist class, in particular.
  • I used a page layout program called Create to do the DINO-PIRATES OF NINJA ISLAND version of OSH:

I basically copied Kiz's sheets and then overlaid my own text where I needed to. InDesign would probably let you do the same thing, I bet.
  • I'm afraid I can't open that file, barsooncore. Am I missing something?
  • Nope, I was! Try again!
  • Never have I felt so massively ninja'd. I really gotta check in on these boards more, because I was going to request a blank form so I could do some tinkering of my own.

Barsoom, stellar work on your own class sheets -- they look slick as all get-out. And Kirin, the blank class sheet you mentioned is a fabulous idea; please consider working it into the next edition of the rulebook. I think there's room for it. :-D
  • Okay, NOT a double-post, apparently.

Anyways, long post short: I think a class template would be a fantastic idea. It was literally the first thing I started to look for, when I discovered this game.
  • Alrighty, while I have no idea how I would be able to do what the OP wanted in a way I could share it, I ALSO wanted a way that I could take a class sheet template and just input my own text so my sheets would look as good as the originals. Needless to say, I think I did it. I used Adobe Illustrator to edit the PDFs text and boxes to match what I wanted and while I ran into some trouble with the Class Title (which I guess is a image file a not text?) I think it turned out pretty good!

Heres how it turned out; http://goo.gl/VyzhH

And I used The Historian DM's Bard Class; http://historiandm.wordpress.com/2011/09/01/the-bard-an-old-school-hack-class/

If anyone has any ideas as to how I would go about /better/ recreating the class title part that'd be awesome!
To be slightly more relevant to the topic, I was wondering if anyone would be interested if I just did a simple Blank Class Sheet so that you could just fill in your own information? Also, if my work impresses I'd more than happy to do one for anyone who could supply me with their class' information/template.
  • Looks good. The titles are normally in FFF Tusj but I find that they come out dark. I tried saving it as an image and then monkeying with the contrast and brightness, and that seemed to work. Not sure what else you could try, sorry.

A blank or fillable class template would be awesome.
  • Have you seen the character sheets for the Shadow Hack game? They're pretty rockin.
