Okay, the software is finally updated, with a whole host of new spam-fighting options. People should also now have the ability to flag posts as well if they seem spammish. Thanks for your patience with this, guys. Sorry I've been a little bit …

My Game-Master Game Prep sheet
That's pretty cool! Only thing I might suggest is thinking about picking a different name in order to avoid potential confusion, since Hackmaster is actually another fantasy tabletop roleplaying game.

The vanilla software is like two years overdue for an update, and the spammers are getting in. I cleaned up what I saw but I really need to sit down and upgrade the forums. Vanilla isn't the best supported system out there so this is a long and…

Per Arena
I'm not sure. I think they might. The important thing is that per-arena Talents that move you between Arenas don't refresh themselves. They're refreshed once you've moved after you've used them. How you move after is never…

Welcome to the Forums!
Not without me upgrading the forum technology, which I've only been meaning to do for, oh, five months now. Something a lot of people do is post it on their google docs and just share the link, too.

Half Arena Attacks
It's okay to be in the minority, man! Like I try to insist, the "right way" to play OSH is the way you and your group want to play it.

Can OSH work with solo play?
You could try putting Awesome Point generation in the player's court too - Like FATE points, the player can "ask" for Awesome Points by trying to do dangerous or heroic things, and getting them if they succeed, or something. You coul…

I think that's enough. I would like to think that most of the ideas shared in this forum are shared in the same spirit of the game, which is "use 'em how you want, make the game your own".

What program do you use?
I use Adobe Illustrator, mostly because that's what I'm most comfortable with. It has PDF-optimizing tools built in, which I'm only now managing to come to grips with (and still have a lot to learn!).

Thoughts on the next tier.
On a first pass, everything looks pretty awesome, and if warms my heart to see people take the system and run with it like this. It's going into the pile for "stuff to look at way closer" as I work on the next tier this winter.

I am also interested in tweeking this rule set into a sci-fi version. I know that you indicate that these rules are open source, but I would still like to ask permission before I steal them from you openly. Not for resale or mass marketing, just f…

Yes. I believe on the move action card, it says if you're impeded then that's when you get a counter-attack.

It's (hopefully) implied. If you failed to impede, how could you be cornering someone in an entirely different arena?

DMing for a rotating roster of players
You could easily discard the "everyone has to reach 12 spent Awesome Points" rule, and have people level up individually. The mechanic is there to encourage mutuality of Awesome Point giving in the in-game endeavors, but it's not cru…

Interrupting focused talents
To clarify why, I think the fact that the action failed to begin with is probably player punishment enough. However I'm not above engaging in some rat-bastardly Bowl-feeding to make such a failure complicate things worse somehow.

Interrupting focused talents
I usually rule that like it says for the Arena Talent, a Rested talent is only "used up" when it is used successfully.

Awesome point spending
In my games, I tend to keep Attack Rolls kind of sacred from Awesome Point spending, because I think that's a "thrill point" of dice-rolling. Purely personal preference, of course.
