I got to play! Retrocalypse and Old School Hack derivitive set in Fallout.
I am so stoked! My full group cannot gather tomorrow, but the remnant still want to play and so another of the group is going to GM Retrocalypse. I'm making my character a super mutant. Initially, since heavy weapons are not allowed, he'…

As I said over on rpg.net, an idea for a hack of my own.
Sleeping on it, I think if anything I would drop the bell curve altogether and use a single d12 for resolution. Looking over Red Box, and its awesome point rules, I kind of like the idea of using that, but then how to resolve experience but reverti…

I'm just looking at some other game systems, including Fudge and I wonder if one could not use the Fudge ladder along with the stuff over here in Hack land to make for a pretty cool game. Don't say it's Fate to me either, because I t…

Just ramping up for Retropocalypse in a week or two and running through whatever resources are available. Thanks for these notes!

Races: Humans, goblins, trolls, elves and dwarves. (as shadow hack but since I do not need to arrange modern history it is as easy to have goblins rather than orcs.) Classes: Fighter, Shaman, Sneak, Wizard, Crystal Gazer, Alchemist.

Old School Hats: OSH in the Wild West
I especially like the common talents. Opens up the game for a bunch more levels, if you wanted too.

I'm late to the party, but that was a cool read. Put me right in mind of the heroes of the old west in all those nifty Louis L'Amour books and movies.

Fast and fun beastmen and orcs.
Keen. I snagged that already last night, but have not quite read it yet.

I'm so glad to hear you are doing better. Nothing like the word "dodecahedron" after all. I'm rather hoping for the time to come when I can get a group together and actually play some of these cool games rather than simply read …

Static or mostly static traits vs leveling?
That sounds just a little closer to what I was thinking, if not right on the money. Is it a new setting as well, SG?

You know, I guess you are right on that. I had not thought of it in that way.

If You Can't Find A Gaming Group, Raise One From Infants
That is awesome. My first attempt at something similar was almost disastrous, as My 13 year old tried to observe the ogre, the 9 year old tried to shoot it and the five year old wanted to play on the swings with it. Cool on the bubble monsters. G…

I am very nostalgic now. You have done a fantastic job so far. It takes me back to hacking the first edition into GURPS, which was truly a nightmare. On the one hand I would love to see more, like the shaman and adept cards. On the other your hack…

Can OSH work with solo play?
Thanks for the advice, guys! I do think that the written dynamics of the game would work best with three or four players and the GM, but I can see my way now to run it with just one if I have to.

Supporting cast are a very important part of the adventuring story. I think these rules are very good for that! To be more specific, I like how diferent levels of henchmen have their different wages. It all makes good sense, and having a couple o…
